Deviation Actions
I've decided to start doing contests after seeing many in the dA community. Since its spring and everyone is into making the earth cleaner and greener, the theme will be A Greener Earth.
The rules are simple.
1: It must be photography
2: One submission per person
3: It must have to do with The Earth in some way
4: The submission can either be a new or old deviation
Entering
You must enter by noting me with a link or thumbnail of your submission by Wednesday, June 11th at 12:00 a.m. EST (Deadline may be extended depending on number of submissions). Winners will be announced shortly after.
Prizes
[*Prizes are subject to updating.* See journal] www.hosmer23.deviantart.com/journal
1st Place

A journal feature from angelitonegro, hosmer23, and toledophotographer
2nd Place
A 3-month subscription from aquaperfection

3rd Place

If anyone else would like to donate prizes, please note me or respond in my journal.
Judging
Judging will take place shortly after the deadline.
I will be the lead judge, with purplepenguinofdoom and aquaperfection as co-judges. Judging will be based on originality, quality, concept, and impact the submission has.
Keep an eye on my journal for updates on prizes. I'll most likely have more people donating subscriptions or features before the deadline arrives.

A Rant. As Well as an Update
First. The rant.
I just got Instagram today, but I will only be using it to throw some great filtered photos on my Facebook. Anything that goes on dA went through extensive review via Photoshop, and some don't even make the cut through that. I despise people that consider themselves a "professional photographer" because their mommy and daddy bought them an iPhone and they discovered this new app Instagram. I started out the true old school way. I used a 35mm and developed my photos at Wal-Mart, hoping that some of them would be good enough for me to put in my scanner and upload to dA. That was way back in '04 though, and with this new age
Soundless Noise of Fuzzy Fuzz
It sure is time to write something new. In the latest news, I'm still on deployment on-board USS Chung-Hoon. Three months into it as of Sept 1st. Our halfway mark. Currently I'm on 90 days of what-they-call "Crank Duty" or FSA (Food Service Specialist". Basically doing dishes, preparing food (Not making it, that's the cooks), lots and lots of cleaning, including wiping down tables and busing lazy sailors' dishes and cups to the dishwasher, keeping coffee stocked as well as other things on the mess decks. It sure is a tiring job, but as with many other things. Someone has to do it. I still get paid well and I have fancy hours as of late, so I

Let the record show that this place is slowly driving me insane. Not literally of course. Just figuratively. I managed to somehow get myself in trouble with the exclamation of one sentence (about someone that happened to be in the room [and she just happened to be an officer]). In turn, it got me sent to the Navy's version of the principals office; Captains Mast. At this hearing I received one of the maximum punishments the Captain could give me. 39 days on restriction: I'm not allowed to leave the ship for anything unless escorted by a second class petty officer or higher. 39 days of extra duty: I have to do extra work from 1800 to 2000 eve
I'm Not Much For Journals As of Late.
As per usual. A lot has changed in my life since I last wrote you America (and surrounding countries). Last I wrote, I had just been dumped, had my heart broken and had just moved in to my new billion dollar houseboat in Hawaii. Since then, I've learned many things in the Navy that I would never have the chance to learn anywhere else.
I went on a four 1/2 month deployment from June 1st to October 15th 2010 and had the amazing opportunity to visit the country of Singapore; Cebu, Philippines; as well as Okinawa and Yokosuka, Japan. Saw a lot of weird foreign things over there, but I felt surprisingly safe out and about in another country.
